An interesting conec Review by Konstantin
An interesting conecpt for a later generation of the Enterprise (or even this one, if technology permits) would be to have a spinning port that connects the wheel to the outside of the ship. An incoming space-taxi could connect to the port and would instantly have artificial gravity (because it is spinning around the ship). A platform within the taxi would then lift the passengers into the wheel, and the taxi detaches and flies off on a tangent to return to Earth. Because of the way the ship is set up, the taxi could stay on the wheel for as long as necessary. The Enterprise would initially begin turning slightly (not enough to be noticeable from within) but if the taxi is released from the same point on the ship it landed, the turning would stop.
