TransPro Swinger 16X20

The TransPro Swinger heat press is excellent for all types of transfer printing. The wider opening is ideal for decorating thicker items such as tiles, plaques, etc. Because this design swings completely out of the way of the base, complete access to load and unload materials and layout transfers is provided. It always allows even and level pressure.

I have had this press for a year now with intermittent moderate use. I did a lot of research before buying and decided that this was the cheapest press I was comfortable taking a chance on. There are many cheaper presses out there, but not any I found from brands that also had mostly positive reviews. I'm happy that I bought this press.

I did take 1 star off of quality for a few minor issues:

    1) Upon arrival, the horizontal handle used to control the 'swing' function is not attached. No problem, I assume people may want to decide themselves which way the press will swing. However, on either side the hardware provided to attach the handle did not provide enough clearance for the handle to be mounted flush and still get past another piece of the press. I was able to cheaply and quickly fix this problem by buying my own hardware, including washers to fix the clearance issue. I believe I was one of the first to order this machine, so this issue may have been resolved by now.

    2) If you lower the platen to press something too quickly, the timer will not start counting. Being a small woman, sometimes I need to "power through" closing the press when using firm pressure and this moves too fast for the timer. On lighter pressure I can close it more slowly and do not have a problem. My work around with firm pressure is to close the press, unlock it and lock it again more slowly to get the timer to start.

    3) The 2 rear plastic end caps on the frame of the machine arrived beaten to hell and don't look very nice. They are very stiff plastic square plug looking things. One has partially caved into the hole its supposed to cover leaving part sticking out at a weird angle and the other is cracked and sticks out more than it should. The front 2 are fine. This is very minor, but I like things to look nice.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this press. The pressure is even enough to pass the dollar bill test, I have not noticed any cold spots (although I have not specifically tested for them), and the clearance is large enough to press on glass, wood or other bulky objects and still use light pressure. Purchased this press and used it for the first time this weekend and pressed over 400 shirts both front and back. The ability to swing away the heat plate completely out of the way allowing for direct access to the garment makes the process more timely and faster. Well worth it. (Posted on 2/6/18)
